Recently, together with GON, we have been offering sessions in the field of well-being, one of which focuses on meditative drawing and in specific zentangles. One can see the image to get an impression of how this looked like or have a look on our instagram.
The course we have developed for these sessions is highly engaging and surprisingly impactful. It lies at the intersection of health, art, and mathematics. Its multidisciplinary nature makes it appealing to a wide range of audiences — although in practice it particularly seems to resonate with children.
Encouraged by the positive response, we plan to expand this initiative further. In addition, we are currently working on a book that will both deepen the course content and present our ideas in a self-study format, allowing people to explore these concepts independently. So stay tuned!
Some background
Meditative drawing encompasses a range of drawing practices that blend art with mindfulness, offering numerous benefits. It is designed not only to promote well-being and mental clarity, but also to encourage artistic self-expression and enhance drawing skills. As such, it is both meaningful and accessible to people of all ages, backgrounds, and levels of artistic experience.
Zentangle can be seen as one form of meditative drawing. It is based on the creation of repeated structures and patterns, which can range from simple to highly intricate. Participants are free to invent their own patterns or build upon existing ones, allowing for endless possibilities of creativity and focus.
Tea cannot be missing from the experience
In our sessions, we combine the calming effect of our teas, meditative drawing, and relaxing music, creating an exceptionally zen, soothing, and health-boosting atmosphere. Especially for children, this provides a necessary alternative to the digital world and helps to cultivate patience and focus.
